The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton
Reviewed by Jonathan Joyce, Age 7, Manor Beach

This is the best book I have ever read because it is full of funny stories. There are three main characters, Joe, Beth and Franny who find a magic tree in an enchanted wood. At the top of the tree there are lots of different lands, for example the land of Birthdays, The land of toys and The land of santa claus. The children have lots of adventures in these strange lands with their new friends who live in the Faraway Tree.

My favourite character is called Saurepanma because he is always saying lots of silly things.

I recommend this book to boys and girls up to ten years old.

Horrid Henry Stories by Francesca Simon
Reviewed by Thomas Pugsley, Age 8, Cannon Park

The Horrid Henry Stories are fantastic. They always end the wrong way especially Horrid Henry way! I love the way Horrid Henry comes up with striking plans for lots of things like losing a tooth, hipnutising people and lots more! He is so sneaky and sly! I love the way his brother Peter is so perfect. Peter always think’s that Henry is relrus. Henry hates moody Margaret of corse. She is anenamy. Henry in one of the story tries to get £200 but is a good ending (like always). It’s amazing how Horid Henry makes up such good plans. Henry is really clever making this up. He always gets away …. “Henry!” … with it well nearly. One of my favourite book of Horid Henry is Horid Henry runs away! It’s so funny. Horrid Henry books are really hilourius. I think more Horrid Henry books should be pulished and sold.

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole by Sue Townsend
Reviewed by Emmanuel Ghunney, Age 10, Cumnor House School

Adrian Mole is a teenager with bad skin who lives at home with his terrible parents. His parents get divorced but later get back together. Adrian thinks he is an intellectual. He reads a lot and likes to write poems. Sometimes he likes to send his poems to the BBC but they always refuse to put it on t.v.

The book also tells us about his crush on Pandora, the rich girl who is dating his best friend Nigel, and the problems he faced studying for his O levels.

Comment: I found the book quite amusing in some parts: Adrian’s crush on Pandora. Other parts not as interesting: He moans too much.

Rotten School Dudes the School is haunted by R.L. Stine
Reviewed by Amy Cook, Age 10, Gosbecks Primary School

This book has really inspired me. The tension while your reading it is absolutely tremendous. The build up on the story line is also incredible its like unwrapping a present.

One of the characters is a gigantic bully called Joe Sweety, and honestly he is not a sweety. Joe is described the best – some of the words that he is described as; shoot out at you some even make your back hairs stand on end. Juicy sentences are always poking out, it feels like you were there watching it happen. The main setting is mostly in one place, Rotten School but there is also a couple of chapters where the setting is at the zoo.

If I had too rate it I would give it 100/100. I would defiantly consider this book for other readers. Out of all the books I have read this the best by far. I was astounded by this book so much I was frantic to get the next book in the series. Rotten School was major hysterical it made me determed not to put the book down.
